On The Mend (And Back On The Road)

Good morning! First of all, Holy Breaking Bad!! Did anyone else watch the finale last night? My hotel didn’t carry AMC so I had to watch some bad-quality streaming version of it online. It was incredible, though, and that’s all I’ll say.

After a short reprieve from work travel and sleeping a LOT, my cold is finally starting to get better. Bella and Coco were more than willing to help me relax during the short weekend!

They are such momma’s girls! In between naps, I took care of a few household things. This included a grocery trip during which I bought just about everything in the store with the word “pumpkin” in it. Luckily, I put the Pumpkin Spice Pop-Tarts down at the last second. Since when do I eat Pop-Tarts?! Apparently, since they started making pumpkin ones.

Yesterday morning, I made a pot of coffee (to go with my Pumpkin Spice creamer of course) and made myself a yogurt bowl. This may be one of the yummiest yogurt bowls I’ve ever made.

I used:

  • Apple cinnamon Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 honey-crisp apple, cut in chunks
  • Dried cranberries
  • Trader Joe’s Pumpkin spice granola

It was fall in a bowl! I ate it with the rest of my apple slices. Honey-crisp apples are by FAR my favorite kind of apple and I’m willing to pay top dollar for them ($7.42 for 4 apples, to be exact….).

I ended up hitting the road around noon to drive up to Northern VA for a college fair. I’m staying at a Residence Inn this week (my favorite), and packed some road snacks to keep me healthy.

The bars are Nature’s Own chocolate chip granola bars. I was nice enough to leave one honey-crisp apple for Riley 🙂

Workout & Breakfast

After taking a few rest days due to my cold, I was ready to get back into the gym this morning! It felt good to lace these babies up after 4 days off.

Since I’d hit the snooze button for a good 45 minutes this morning (whoops), I ended up just doing some intervals on the elliptical for 30 minutes before grabbing some breakfast.

I hit up the free breakfast buffet at my hotel and went with a bowl of Special K cereal, sliced banana, raisins, and walnuts.

To top off my lovely morning, on my way to the elevator, I snatched up a newspaper and was so happy to see this headline:

Washington Post

I was working all night yesterday, so I didn’t get to watch any of the game. I’m just glad my Redskins finally won!

I’ve got a super easy day today. I only have 2 high school visits and then…..well, that’s it! Maybe I’ll catch a movie or read my new book.

Hope you all have a great Monday!

What did you do this weekend?

What are you most looking forward to this week?

  1. Oooh those honey crisp apples look good! I love them so much but they arent grown in the UK (bummer but we do have some other tasty apples). Occasionally our Whole Foods imports them from the states though – when I spot them, I buy the biggest one I can find and savour every bite! 🙂

  2. I seriously want to fall into your fall in a bowl breakfast 😉 Or better yet, do a nice swan dive into it. And I’m not sure if you’ve tried the maple AB yet, but be prepared for a full-blown addiction — stuff is pretty much epic on the taste scale.

  3. I’m glad you are feeling better, and you were able to resist the urge to workout while you were sick. I always find it difficult to take off an appropriate amount of days to allow a full recovery, and always end up mad at myself if I don’t because the sickness drags on!

  4. I had my first day back in the gym today too and gosh did it feel good!! I am glad to hear you are over your cold too.

My boyfriend and I are only halfway through season 2 of breaking bad we really need to catch up but he was getting too depressed watching it so we took a break.

  5. Ok…so, I hate to admit this, but, my hubby and I haven’t seen a single episode of Breaking Bad yet….I know the season finale just occurred, and my Facebook has been flooded….I’m starting to feel like I just missed a major event or something like that….I think I have ALOT to catch up on….
